We are pleased to announce a special Sunday workshop featuring bonsai artist Heike van Gunst from Hamburg, Germany, who is the chief editor for the German BONSAI ART magazine. Heike started her passion for plants in early childhood; when she was 13, she saw her first bonsai. This sparked her passion, which evolved into her teaching herself the practice through books, magazines, and experimentation, then later learning more from attending bonsai clubs and workshops. She has studied with many teachers, refining her skills. In 2007, her passion led her to become the founder of a new local club, the Bonsai AK Hamburg & Umland. In 2018, 2019, and 2023, she was invited to Chinese bonsai/penjing exhibitions in Rugao and Nanjing as a demonstrator and in 2019, to Canberra, Australia, to teach workshops and perform demos. Since 2018, she has shown a tree or shohin display in every issue of Europe's most prestigious bonsai exhibition, "The Trophy "in Belgium. She shares her knowledge by translating demos, workshops, and bonsai books. With more than 40 years of experience, she enjoys sharing her knowledge about long-term bonsai development and bonsai pot choice.
