Eastern Leaf Bonsai Community Meeting February 17, 2024
The Eastern Leaf's community sessions are a setting for novice and
experienced bonsai enthusiasts to share their knowledge with others and
collaborate on improving trees. We recommend bringing your own tools,
wire, and raw material tree to work on if available. Jason is available
for questions and guidance. We will be holding six Eastern Leaf
Community sessions in 2024, weather permitting.

Chinese New Year Celebration at the Huntington February 10-11, 2024
Every year, the Huntington hosts a lunar new year celebration event. This family-friendly event features lion dancers, a mask-changing
artist, martial arts demonstrations, music, art and craft
demonstrations, and more. This year we had the opportunity to participate in a public tree styling over the course of the weekend.

Michael Ryan Bell Seminar at Eastern Leaf February 18, 2024
In 2008, Michael Ryan Bell
began digging into his bonsai journey; by 2010, he bought his first
quality container. In his attempt to acquire information about this pot
and others, he discovered a lack of information available in English.
This catapulted him on his quest to create an pot artisan database
featuring artist profiles and biographies to raise awareness to people
in the bonsai community of the standards of appreciation, awareness, and
selection of quality bonsai containers

East Bay Bonsai Society Show 2023
East Bay Bonsai Society Show 2023Annual Show : October 14 - 15, 2023Annual
Show at the Lakeside Park Garden Center at Lake Merritt, located at 666
Bellevue Avenue, Oakland CA. Show hours are Saturday 10 AM - 5 PM and
Sunday 10 AM - 4 PM. The show features an impressive exhibit of quality
bonsai as well as a demonstration by Jason Chan, owner of Eastern Leaf
Bonsai Nursery, past board member of GSBF and author of a bonsai book
dedicated to helping beginners and new bonsai enthusiasts.

Bonsai-a-thon 2023 Huntington Library
Bonsai-a-thon February 26, 2023Bonsai-a-thon
at the Huntington Library is one of the most popular bonsai events in
Southern California. We're always happy to be a part of the event. Jason
Chan gave a demonstration at the 2023 Huntington Library along with
other local bonsai artists.

Golden State Bonsai Federation Rendezvous 2023
Friday Oct 20, 2023 10:00 AM PDT – Sunday, Oct 22, 4:00 PM PDT , Santa Nella, CAGSBF,
Inc. is a non-profit 501(c) (3) educational organization comprised of
member and affiliate clubs in California and adjoining states. The GSBF
promotes the art of bonsai. Jason Chan will be doing a demonstration on Saturday October 21, 2023 at the GSBF's annual bonsai convention.

Black Pine Bonsai Styling Timelapse – Four Years Later
In this video,
Jason wires and styles a black pine bonsai tree. This tree was
originally used in the video going over how to cut the candles on a
black pine bonsai. After four years, the tree has grown significantly
and has developed enough branches to create thick pad layers. Jason
discusses ideal times for wiring and basic concepts to consider when
wiring a Japanese Black Pine Bonsai.
